Removing a Broken Shaft, How to Get It Out of Your Dart
A dart consists of several different parts and is available in various weights. There are also different types of darts. For example, darts with a steel point and soft tip darts from brands such as Bull’s, Harrows, McKicks and Winmau.
The shaft is an important part of the dart. The shaft is the section between the flight and the barrel and is usually made from aluminium or plastic. In principle, the shaft holds the flight in place. Shafts are also available in different sizes such as long, medium, inbetween, short and extra short. It is also one of the most vulnerable parts of the dart.
A broken shaft, what should you do?
A metal shaft can bend and a nylon shaft can break. These nylon shafts can break when a dart falls on the floor or when another dart hits the shaft.
It often happens that the shaft breaks at an awkward point, making it difficult to remove it from the barrel. To remove the broken piece you can use the Koto Broken Shaft Remover. With this handy tool you can easily twist the broken part out of the barrel.
Alternative way to remove a broken shaft
There is also another way to remove a broken shaft from the barrel. You can do this in a few steps:
• Take a small needle or another pointed object
• Heat the object until it becomes warm
• Carefully press the object into the broken shaft
• Then twist the broken part out of the barrel
By gently pressing the warm object into the nylon, you can often loosen the broken piece and remove it.
In the video at the bottom of this page we show how to remove a broken shaft and how to use the Koto Broken Shaft Remover.
