Shortest answer: England won the World Cup of Darts 2026. Luke Littler and Luke Humphries defeated the Netherlands (Michael van Gerwen and Gian van Veen) 10-5 in the final in Frankfurt on Sunday 14 June. It is England's record-extending sixth World Cup of Darts title.
The sixteenth edition of the World Cup of Darts ran from 11 to 14 June 2026 at the Eissporthalle in Frankfurt. Forty nations competed in pairs for the title and a £500,000 prize pool. The final brought together the top two seeds for the first time since 2020: England against the Netherlands.
The Netherlands started strongly. Michael van Gerwen hit a 113 checkout early in the match to put the Dutch 2-1 ahead. From that point the game swung decisively. Luke Littler and Luke Humphries reeled off four legs in a row to lead 5-2, with a combined average above 110. England never relinquished that lead. Humphries sealed the match with a 12-dart leg to complete the 10-5 win.
England's pairs average of 104.77 is the highest ever in a World Cup of Darts final.
England entered the tournament directly in the last 16 as top seeds. Littler and Humphries opened with an 8-5 win over Spain, then survived a quarter-final thriller against Wales, fighting back from 5-2 down to win 8-7, with a Littler 170 checkout along the way. In the semi-final they cruised past Scotland 8-3 before delivering their most clinical performance of the tournament in the final.
The Netherlands entered the tournament as second seeds. Van Gerwen and Van Veen beat Sweden 8-6 in the last 16 and then host nation Germany 8-4 in the quarter-finals, posting a team average of over 102, the highest Dutch average ever in the current World Cup format. They beat defending champions Northern Ireland 8-2 in the semi-final to reach their first World Cup final since 2018.
The total prize fund was £500,000. The headline payouts:
• Winners (England): £100,000
• Runners-up (Netherlands): £48,000
• Semi-finalists (Scotland and Northern Ireland): £40,000 each
First World Cup title for Luke Littler. He had already won the World Championship, Premier League, Masters and Poland Darts Open in 2026. Only the European Championship is missing from his 2026 honours list.
Second title for Luke Humphries. He also won the World Cup of Darts in 2024, then partnering Michael Smith.
Highest final average on record. England's 104.77 broke the existing record team average in a World Cup of Darts final.
First top two final since 2020. On that occasion Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton won the final for Wales.
Wales without Price. The former world champion chose to spend the week with his family and missed the tournament entirely.
The Netherlands played a strong tournament and reached their first World Cup of Darts final since 2018, but came up against an England pair who delivered their best display of the week when it mattered most.
